I stayed in Przemysi ,a city in South Eastern Poland near Ukraine border before catching the bus to Lviv Ukraine. When i travelled the train did not run at convenient time, but i notice now 2018 there seem to be more trains. The bus had a check at border. Took a taxi from Bus station to George hotel in centre of Lviv. The taxi driver thought he was in the Grand Prix dodging the potholes in the road, got to hotel safe at the price he said. On my return, i travelled to Lviv train station by tram.----The George Hotel is a old style hotel in the centre of Lviv. Comfortable stay. Breakfast was bread, meat, cheese, jam, and to finish warm pancakes. The staff speak english and are friendly. ---Lviv is the largest city in Western Ukraine population around 728,000. Ukraine became independent from the Soviet Union in 1991. Lviv is 70km (43 miles } from the Polish border. The river is the Poitva which runs under the city centre. There is a city wall , cobbled streets, and loads of Parks, city hall, and Opera House.--Local transport is bus and tram, the tram most useful to me was 1,. 6,, and 9, from city centre to rail station. There is an Airport . ---The currency of Ukraine is the Ukrainian Hryvnia divided into 100 Kopiyky---- Lviv is twinned with 18 other towns around the world----------A bit of history, Lviv as been ruled by Poland, Sweden. Austro/ Hungarian, Nazi Germany, and Soviet Union, now Ukraine.
